Music Swapper asked to to pay $1.92 Million.

Jammie Thomas-Rasset, a single mother of two, has been proven liable for illegal sharing of music over the internet, after a 2 year long suit in a Minnesota court.
Rasset, who managed to win the retrial, after a $220,000 verdict was announced against her, has now been asked to pay a mamoth sum of $1.92, as ordered by the jury.
Jammie was accused of sharing 24 songs, over the Kaazaa Network, now has to pay $80,000 per song. The amount payable per song could have been between $750 and $150,000.
Thomas’ defense claimed that she had not indulged in illegal fire sharing. Juror Michael Hegg later commented, “She’s a liar.”

In their attempts to end all illegal music sharingand copyright infringement activites, the Recording Industry Association of America, has filed law suits on over 20,000 people. The RIA last year, also said that will no longer track individuals who engage in such illegal activites, instead they will notify the ISP of the defaulter, and seek their help in curbing such activities.
