Pirate Bay Founders Sentenced To A Year In Prison

In a Landmark judgement, in the case against the Leading BitTorrent Tracking Company – The Pirate Bay, the 4 founders (Peter Sunde, Fredrik Neij, Gottfrid Svartholm, Carl Lundström) have been found guilty of aiding massive copyright infringement, and proffiting from its actions as well. They have been sentenced to a year in prison each.
The Issue was taken to court by Domestic Swedish Record Label companies, who demanded damages to the extent of $14million.
The 4 accused have been asked to pay 30m kronor (£2.4m), in damages. And this money will be given to a number of Entertainment Companies, some of them being Sony Music, Warner Brothers, Columbian Pictures etc.
According to “breaking reports”,Pirate Bay founder Peter Sunde has sworn to appeal against the courts decision, and continue operating The Pirate Bay.
